HCH U12 Fire test

HCH U12 had a baptism of fire in Zurich

On 24.11.2019 the time had come: the HCH U12s had their baptism of fire at the tournament in Zurich, organized by the time-honored Grasshoppers country hockey club. Almost two weeks after the friendly training session at LSC Lucerne, the HCH U12s competed in their first 'real' tournament at GC Zurich. As the youngest country hockey club in Switzerland, our U12 had the honor of playing the opening game against the hosts. Our team with Elias, Ragnar, Kevin, Leandro, Nati, Noah and Finn performed confidently and played forward with great pressure from the start. Unfortunately, this fighting spirit was not rewarded with goals and in the end GC won 3-0 with playing experience and two completely interchangeable teams. Despite the defeat, the result for the HCH was surprisingly positive, especially when the GC defeated the other more experienced teams from Basel and Lucerne with 7:1 and 8:0 respectively. The following game against Basel ended with 5:0 for Basel, despite the playful superiority of the HCH, especially in the first half. Here, too, the playing experience and the long-term training of the opponents against the fighting spirit of the HCH paid off. HCH played the last game of the day against Rotweiss Wettingen. Here the HCH clearly dominated and determined the game from the start. At times it was even 2-0 for the HCH. Due to a decision of the referee, which was not understood by the audience, the second goal was not recognized. Burdened by this questionable decision, the concentration of the HCH decreased and Wettingen was able to equalize to 1:1. In the last minute, Rotweiss even managed to take the win off the field with a lucky goal. The disappointment of our U12s couldn't be denied, as they gave their all in all games. Some refereeing decisions were troubling - but in the end the team has to accept it. All in all, it was a great tournament, with a good atmosphere and a promising acid test for the HCH U12s. Thank you GC for the great start!
